Couples Workshop - Your Body Held in Time: Rope & Plaster Sculpture
Beginners
– TRANSCEND –
A 4-hour couples ritual where Shibari becomes sculpture: guided by Dan Carabas, you shape, bind, hold, and cast your own moment of intimacy with your partner into a physical art object that you can take home.
Time & Location
Sunday April 12th, 14:00 – 18:00
Berlin, Studio Stellar
METAMORPHIC SCULPTURE is an ongoing art project by Dan Carabas and transforms today into an exclusive hands-on couples workshop that merges rope with plaster into an intimate experience of deep connection, heightened sensations, through touch, presence, and art creation.
You’ll create a collaborative body cast using rope as the “drawing line” and plaster as the “memory layer”, a ritual of tension & trust that turns a shared moment into a sculptural artifact. This is not a “rope basics” class. It’s an art-driven intimacy lab: slow, intentional and aesthetic; with clear guidance and support
What to expect
In this kink & art immersive workshop, you’ll move through guided steps from connection → shaping → casting → to a finished unique work of art that you can take home.
Rope as Sculpture How to use rope for shaping, supporting, and composition; not “technical knots”, but visual & sensual structure.
Body Mapping & Design Choosing the pose, the body area to cast, and the “story” you want your sculpture to hold.
Skin Preparation Ritual (Vaseline Layer) You’ll learn how to gently apply a full protective Vaseline layer to your partner’s skin (where needed) — slow, caring, and intimate, to support comfort and clean release during the casting process.
Casting Process (Plaster) Step-by-step application, timing, comfort, and how to keep it safe + elegant.
Detailing & Finishing Touches Surface texture, edges, removal, and how to prepare it for drying/transport.
You’ll leave with:
The felt memory of having moved through a slow, intimate creation process together, where touch becomes craft, trust becomes structure, and your shared presence becomes the artwork.
This workshop is a rare kind of couple experience: you’re not just “doing an activity” you’re creating a physical artifact of connection. Your body is shaped, held, and transformed through rope and plaster into a unique cast that captures a moment of closeness in three dimensions.
It’s sensual, aesthetic, and deeply bonding: a sculptural imprint of the way you met each other in that session, something you can take home and keep as a one-of-a-kind art object you created together.
Who This Is For
This workshop is ideal for couples/duos of all orientations who want a premium, artistic, intimacy-forward experience, something that feels like a ritual, not a class. It’s perfect if you’re curious about rope as an art form, want to create something meaningful together, or crave a guided container to explore closeness, control, surrender, and creation without performance pressure.
If you love the idea of making intimacy tangible, this is for you: you’ll shape each other with rope and touch, then capture that moment in plaster, turning connection into a one-of-a-king art object you created as a couple.
You don’t need prior rope experience, just curiosity, consent, and the desire to make something beautiful together.
The Expert: Dan Carabas
Meet your guide, renowned for his multidisciplinary art project METAMORPHIC SCULPTURES, Dan Carabas is an experienced Shibari artist and instructor who has been working with ropes in an aesthetic and expressive manner for over a decade. Based in Berlin, he founded SHIBARI STUDIO BERLIN in 2024, where he began teaching what he describes as “the art of Shibari with intention.” This focused practice emphasizes tying one’s partner in an intimate and sensual way, fostering a deep connection and meaningful communication through the ropes.
Dan about his project: “In my experiments with the conventional art mediums through which I express my METAMORPHIC SCULPTURES, I have now finally achieved a three-dimensional representation of them. This marks the peak of a process that began with the meditative, fleeting form of a transformed body through rope and fabric, photographed in two-dimensional images and animations. And it culminates now in an abstract three-dimensional form, held in space by plaster and rope. But despite the remaining sculpture, it still only shows a hollow imprint of the original creation which has already passed. Nevertheless, my art is a reflection on the continuous change and transformation of life.”
In this workshop, Dan combines strong aesthetics with real intimacy, focus, and presence, holding a space where couples can create together, feel together, and take something real home as a physical manifestation of their shared presence and creation.
Wear something that supports movement + access to skin: Ideally, plaster is cast directly on nude skin for the cleanest detail and best finish. We recommend choosing a body area you feel comfortable having exposed during the casting. The best results typically come from the chest / upper body.
If you are applying the plaster, expect potential dust / splashes, bring clothing you don’t mind getting a little messy.
Bring a large towel (useful for Vaseline + plaster rests cleanup).
A hair tie for long hair.
A simple robe or kimono for transitions + comfort.
Footwear: socks are nice (warm + non-slip feeling). For the models if needed an extra pair of socks that can get full splashes of plaster on.
